Film

As an artist I have an interest in graphic design and film. For this work I have combined my two interests to show how my design skills translate into film and its aspects. The film’s style is inspired by German Expressionism. I used relevant psychological themes in the narrative of my film. I designed the set, title sequence, intertitles, and posters for the film. I was true to the German Expressionist style in my set design. My set consisted of warped, symbolic shapes and low-key lighting. The film posters represent the themes in my film and include symbols from the set design. The large poster is the size of traditional film posters of the time. The smaller poster is sized as one of Germany’s traditional poster sizes. The stills included in the display are of important moments in the plot. My work shows the use of graphic design in film in addition to the film itself.
